Abstract
State succession are events where there is a transfer of sovereignty from one country to another. This transfer of sovereignty has complex legal implications for several aspects, one of which is international treaties. This study aims to find out how the implications or the impact of  the law on state succession on the sustainability or continuity of international agreements on countries that carry out succession. In order to achieve this goal, the author uses a normative juridical research method using both books and other research results. The legal implications of state succession can lead to the transfer of rights and obligations from one country to another.
However, as regulated in the 1978 Vienna Convention on State Succession in Relation to International Treaties, it is emphasized that the obligation to carry out the burden of international agreements can be carried out on condition that the succession country agrees to be bound to become a party to the international agreement of the former country. The agreement must be formed in a transfer agreement or what is called a devolution agreement made by both parties.
